I feel safe and secure, alone in my room
listening to my power pop music play
relaxing and typing on my laptop
daydreaming in private is the only way
I think I should turn on my lava lamp
but I’m too lazy to get up out of my chair
so, I’ll watch my globe change color
close my eyes and let my mind roam elsewhere
periodic waves of the universe are lapping
on the beaches surrounding my private island
as I leave my body and go for a galactic swim
with my spirit skinny dipping as my thoughts expand
finally returning to the music playing in my room
where I fall asleep for a little afternoon nap
it’s too bad I don’t get the benefits of exercise
sitting in my room taking my mental interstellar lap

That stanza is my favorite. I was tempted to take just that stanza and try to expand that into a separate poem, but the rest of the poem served my purpose of having something to go with my photo. And, besides, I was in a hurry to get toweled off and back into some dry clothes.

Yes, that’s me, off far and away skinny dipping in the oceans of methane on Triton. Not good to try to do that kind of stuff physically, of course.

LOL. It doesn’t usually get very cold where I live in California, so it doesn’t feel wintery.
