we all die
a little bit every day
we all cry
a little about the things we say

and when it’s over
we wonder where it’s gone
it may be eighty years or so
but it doesn’t seem that long

we all try
to be as good as we can
and we try
to stick to our master plan

and when the time comes
we’re old and gray
we look to our children
before we pass away

we all die
a little bit everyday
we all cry
because it’s the only way

and when we’re gone
we’d all like to know
that someone cares
where we go

OK, I wrote this song thirty some years ago? It hits awfully close to home to the old gray-haired guy that I am today. Maybe that is why I don’t care much for it.

I chuckle at the line “stick to our master plan”. John Lennon said it best, I think. “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” My life, on the other hand, pretty much happened in one long confused daze.
