caught in the vice of love

why do you feel the way you do
for a person who doesn’t feel
the same about you?

it makes you sick to feel this way
but there is no Doctor or pill
that can cure this  ill

it holds you in a vice
with a tight grip on your fast beating heart
that sometimes just isn’t very nice

until you can’t think straight anymore
and are left praying for someone to open up their locked door
and let you come in from the pouring rain
and ease the ever loving pain

but don’t listen to my advice
you could have better luck at the dice
and besides, don’t you know?
I, too, am caught in the vice

Not sure if my revision actually improved this one or not. I may be getting tired tonight. Here is my old original for this poem:

    love is strange

love is such a strange emotion
    because you never understand why
why you feel the way you do
for a person who doesn’t care about you

it makes you sick to feel
    this way
but there’s nothing you can do
love is in control of you
    no matter what you say

it holds you in a vice
    it isn’t very nice
but the feeling just won’t go away
    and you miss her
    more and more, each day

love is such a strong emotion
it can overcome all of you
    till, you can’t think anymore
    except about getting her
    to open up her door
you want to come in from the rain
    and ease the pain
