methodology of the web

spider (Photo credit: schmecky!)

the weeping web tugs and vibrates
singing a dour tune of oncoming gloom
as the spider spins a silky smooth yarn
patiently waiting within the filaments of doom

cowering cobwebs ignore the sober truths
of the bloodthirsty sins of spiders and such
as our trapped beating wings wet an appetite
for the pearly spinning death of life sucking lust

during the day even the dark corners are cleaned
and all our regrets and our deaths may be swept away
while the spider methodically works all night
to build a new web of fear before the next day

This college poem was originally titled “the weeping web”. I have no idea why I wrote it. My daughter does really hate spiders and will scream at me to come kill one for her at all hours which has nothing at all to do with this poem.
