who am I?

Star Fire Shower

sometimes I look but I never see
sometimes I wonder who’s inside of me?
why is it that I feel this way?
why should I stay, stay another day?

who, who, who
who am I? who am I?

I hear the beating thunder of my blood
will I explode in fireworks shower or be a dud?
do I burn inside because I am someone?
or is the brightness all outside from the sun?

who, who, who
who am I? who am I?

sometimes, I wonder what’s gotten into me?
why this obsession with a question of destiny?
why can’t I live a simple life and be a happy man?
why do I worry whether or not there is a plan?

who, who, who
who am I? who am I?

The last one of the lost, erased songs from 1983. I suspect that by listening to the other songs from 1983, that I still had tapes of, one could assume the music for these would have be similar. I only knew a few chords, after all. 🙂 Try listening to “Don’t Let Me Go“, “I Cant Get Her Out of my Mind“, or “Oh, I Miss My Love“, all from 1983.

Thank you. I turned this into a song in 1983, but I’m not sure when I wrote the original poem. Although, I suspect this one may date back to high school.

Sorry, but I don’t have anything to post on youtube for this song. The tape that it was recorded on was accidentally erased and I’m afraid that I don’t remember how to play any of my songs. So, the music for the songs that got erased is gone. All I have left are the words from my notes.

One tape out of the eight that I originally recorded was accidentally erased. I converted all the others to mp3’s and they should be playable by pressing the little play button at the bottom of the lyrics. Although they are often a little hard to hear. I used a really cheap, single channel, cassette recorder all those years ago. I’m not sure if the ones that survived are worth uploading to youtube. I’d have to try to add some visuals to them. It doesn’t seem worth it, since the sound quality is so poor and my audience so few.
