a stubborn old mule standing in the middle of the busy windy street
resistant to move or to change, just a jackass with cold-feet

likes everything in its place, all so organized and so neat
but an important piece was left out and now the puzzle is left incomplete

an impatient instant push-button blitzkrieg baby
wants a definite yes or no but always ends up with an empty maybe

all forgotten memories, long lost loves and faded dreams
detasseling in a corn field in a pair of old faded hand me down blue jeans

standing with hands in pockets with no point or serious ambitions
and no belief in magic, myths, or silly superstitions

a narcissistic, egotistical, bald-faced lying cad
never one to count sheep or for following the latest fashion or fad

a sporadic spinner of stories and tall tales
and an atom smasher of thumbs listening to the laughter of all the missed nails

full of so much untapped stealth potential
but in the end an overlooked partial radar blip, ultimately inconsequential

divided we fall

sadly, my country is so polarized and so divided these days
looks like this time we may have to finally all go our separate ways

split right down the middle, us versus them, it seems
like a bent over obese fat man ripping the seat of his favorite blue jeans

seems like everybody is running for office and nobody is running the country
and it doesn’t matter who wins since no one can stop this spending spree

the sanctimonious Senate hasn’t passed a budget for more than three years
and that doesn’t do much for our economy or to dispel away our fears

the lessons of little Greece seem totally lost on us
but when California goes bust somebody is gonna notice and put up a fuss

but I fear it’s all too little and too late to find a solution
since no one seems to care or understand the wisdom of our constitution

I guess it’s a good thing that Rodney King won’t see this and is no longer here
cause it’s obvious we all just can’t get along and this isn’t going to be a good year
