Pilot

Pilot was a Scottish pop rock band. All but one member of the band later went on to be in another band that I also love, the ‘Alan Parsons Project’. They had a few hits in the UK, but may be known as a one hit wonder in US because of the hit single ‘It’s Magic’.

These first two songs are from their great album ‘Morin Heights’ released in 1976 and produced by Roy Thomas Baker. I always thought the band was from Canada because of the song ‘Canada’ on that album. LOL. I got interested in the album after reading a review in my paperback copy of All Music Guide. I had to search hard to find the album back in the day.

Too Many Hopes

Penny In My Pocket

This next song is the band’s biggest hit from their debut 1974 album ‘From the Album of the Same Name’ which was produced by Alan Parsons.

It’s Magic

This last song was on their second album ‘Second Flight’ from 1975.

Call Me Round

Stealers Wheel

Before Gerry Rafferty had his big solo hit, ‘Baker Street’, he and Joe Egan had formed the Scottish rock band, Stealers Wheel. Their first album,’Stealers Wheel’, released in 1972 was a commercial success with the hit song ‘Stuck in the Middle With You’ which first caught my attention.

Stuck in the Middle With You

After the first album, the band was reduced to a duo. Unfortunately, their next two albums were less successful. Although, I actually think they got better with each album and their last album,’Right or Wrong’, may be my favorite. The next two songs are a couple of my favorites from their second album, ‘Ferguslie Park’ released in 1973.
